Ta-ra for now, Harrogate!

Ta-ra for now, Harrogate!

Last week we bid a fond farewell to one of our first pop-up shops, in Harrogate, following a successful stint on James Street.

Our pop-ups have been helping us spread the Ellie Warburtons word, as well as making sure our cakes are ‘bob on’ before releasing them into the wild. We’re sure you’ll agree that they’ve done a cracking job!

Did you know that the first-ever Warburtons grocery shop opened in Bolton, all the way back in 1870? Six years later, Ellie made her first batch of loaves and cakes – and the rest, as they say, was history!

Back to the present day, and we therefore decided the best place to showcase our new cake range was back to where it all began: the high street. We’re incredibly proud of our Northern roots, so the lucky towns in question were Skipton (which is still open, by the way!) and Harrogate.

Our Harrogate shop was in prime position on James Street, with stunning Edwardian frontage in the heart of the town centre – what better way to show off our latest bakes?

We’re chuffed to share that the shop went down a storm! We were made to feel so welcome by local businesses and fellow cake-lovers. After all, there’s nowt quite like having a nosey at the local independents, supping a good brew, and having a good old-fashioned natter with a slice of fresh cake.

It was so lovely to see people from all over the UK on their holidays getting a taste of Northern charm – especially the little ones, who couldn't get enough of our Cookie Dough with Caramel Slice!

Here are a few snaps of us painting the town yellow!

A fresh start for cakes

We’re thrilled with the reaction we’ve had so far to our cakes and pop-up shops. After all, for ‘our Ellie’, only the best would do! Keep your eyes peeled as to where we will ‘pop up’ next – but for now, why not place an order online?

Or, if you’re local, our Skipton pop-up is still open on Otley Street, with a seating area upstairs. Don’t miss our in-store exclusives, such as our Raspberry with Passion Fruit Compote Cake and Chocolate Cake, and our selection of coffees made with our very own Ellie Warburtons coffee beans.
